The morning after Kyrie arrives | xBlackKnightx

Hey Dad,

Thank you for bringing Kyrie home and taking care of her. She said you were a real gentleman.

I told her everything. She's shaken up but she wants to hear you out. I'll be there if you want me to but no matter what, I know it's gonna be OK.

I'm your son and I'm proud of you.

[Nero was kind of hoping the conversation between Kyrie and Vergil would be one he was present for, rather than eavesdropping through the bedroom door pantsless and sweating. But in the end, he thinks, it was probably good he wasn't there. It was important to Kyrie that she get to speak her mind, that she be able to handle it by herself. Nero would be the first to admit he does go a little overboard trying to protect her sometimes... he would have ended up undermining her in a panicked attempt to smooth things over. There was no way he could keep cool and calm as two of the most important people in his world tried to resolve a conflict. It would have ended in Nero blowing up and turning all the attention to himself.

But by now, Nero understands his father quite well (he thinks) and he knows how difficult the conversation was for him. Like the one they had all those months ago, in terms of pressure. Maybe even worse. He also knows the way Vergil's anxiety works and knows exactly what direction he's probably spiraling in.

He plays it cool the rest of that day, helping Kyrie get settled in, showing her around the house and around Epiphany. Making sure she has everything she needs, until they can go out and go properly shopping for her. Demonstrating how the relics work, how she can call Nero. He does a voice call with her in the same room, just to be silly.

And once he's satisfied that Kyrie is comfortable and contented (and not a moment sooner,) he excuses himself to go look for Vergil.

It takes a bit to find him. Late enough that the summer sky is starting to darken by the time Nero notices a figure skulking around in the garden. If it's not Vergil, Nero is at least going to tell the person to fuck off and quit messing with their plants.

His sigh of relief is palpable when it is Vergil, though. Here he was worried it would be several days before he caught his father slinking around with his tail between his legs.

Hey Dad. Up for a walk?
